“One republic falls, another rises…”

The story of Julius Caesar’s assassination by the associates who fear his dictatorial ambitions, and the rise of his nephew Octavius, who leads the subsequent hunt for the assassins – all of which helps to bring about the fall of the Roman Republic the conspirators had hoped to forestall – forms one of Shakespeare’s most notable historical tragedies.
