The Squirrels, by Robert Atkins
Directed by McKenzie Huffman, who also directed the 2023 production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile, this fast-paced dark comedy has it all: Intrigue! Intergenerational conflict! Star-crossed lovers! Battle royale! Think West Side Story with less singing and dancing and more squirrels and resource hoarding. Also, funnier!
Squirrel patriarch Sciurus has to contend with dissension in his own family, tension within the tree community of other squirrels, and a smooth-talking schemer. Family, foes, and false friends alike have one thing in common: they’re all determined to get their paws on his vast stores of nuts. And Sciurus is determined to keep his own paws on them. The trouble is…he may not be able to remember where he stashed them all. And winter is coming…
Wine and beer will be served at the Friday and Saturday shows (not on Sundays), and there will be an opening night reception following the performance.
Due to some suggestive language and situations, The Squirrels is recommended for ages 13 – up.
